The Bobby Jones Centennial Collection

They called him The Emperor, and he dominated the game of golf in his era as Jack Nicklaus did in his and Tiger Woods does today. He captured 13 major championships in a seven-year span from 1924 to 1930, including all four in that historic Grand Slam year of 1930. Then, at the age of 28 and at the peak of his talent, he retired from competitive golf.

Robert Tyre Jones Jr. was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2002. To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, Golf Links to the Past is introducing the Bobby Jones Centennial Collection celebrating his legend and legacy.

Headlining the collection is a leather-bound, limited edition of Down the Fairway, which Jones co-authored with sportswriter O.B. Keeler in 1927. Nicklaus wrote the Foreword to the new edition and has signed each copy. The new edition will be limited to only 300 copies, each with a hand-painted, four-edge painting of Jones in full swing.

“Jones and Keeler signed only 300 copies of the 1927 edition, and today those books command as much as $15,000 at auction,” said Ed Papczun, founder and president of Golf Links to the Past. “Anyone who owns that edition will want to complete their collections with this new edition.”

Also featured in The Centennial Collection is a set of a hickory shafted, hand-crafted golf clubs that are exact reproductions of the clubs Bobby used to win The Grand Slam. The set includes reproductions of 14 clubs, including the famous Jack White driver, the concave sand wedge (outlawed by the USGA in 1931), and, of course, Jones’s trusty putter, Calamity Jane.

Only 1,930 individually numbered sets will be produced. Each is fully playable and handmade to the exact specifications of the originals by renowned clubmaker Heritage Golf of St. Andrews, Scotland. Also offered is a choice of a mahogany and brass display rack or an old-style canvas and leather golf bag.

The Centennial Collection also includes the following:

Calamity Jane I

A faithful reproduction of the original Calamity Jane putter made by Stuart May, which Jones used to win his first three majors. Ready to play, with hickory shaft, hand-forged head, and leather grip.

The Coming Eclipse

A limited edition print by Greg Rudd, the exclusive licensed artist for the Jones family, which captures the moment at Jones’s first US Open in 1920 when he met Harry Vardon, the legendary English champion. The edition is limited to 800, each signed and numbered by the artist.

Four-Leaf Clover Ball Marker

Born on St. Patrick’s Day, Jones adopted the four-leaf clover as his personal talisman at an early age. The lucky charm was in his pocket at every tournament and match he played.

The Jones Crystal

A limited edition of hand-cut crystal glasses, each engraved with the Jones swing sequence. When you turn the glass in the light, you actually see his swing in motion, like an old-fashioned flicker book.

The Jones Cap Collection

A set of eight caps commemorating the 1930 Grand Slam, including four from the courses where the tournaments were held.

Founded in 1995, Golf Links to the Past – http://www.golfspast.com – is one of only two companies licensed by the Jones family to create products that carry the Jones name. The other is HartMarx, the parent company of Bobby Jones Apparel. Golf Links to the Past also offers a variety of other golf memorabilia and collectibles, including original oil paintings and golf documents, photography, oil paintings, limited edition sculptures, clubhouse models, books, autographs, and other golf gifts.
